Is facial extraction really necessary?

In our previous article titled “Do facial extractions hurt or damage our skin?” we referenced online articles from beauty salons, suggesting that facial extractions can cause discomfort and potential harm to the skin. These sources emphasize the importance of taking precautions to soothe the skin before extraction and promote healing afterward.

“The thing is, you really do need a very skilled professional, like a reputable dermatologist, to properly extract clogged pores,” says dermatologist J (do no have permission to quote the dermatologist name). “If you use incorrect pressure, or go in at the wrong angle, you easily disrupt the integrity of your follicles, leading to inflammation and breakouts. And you need an expert who knows which pores are pickable, and which are absolutely not pickable, which is unfortunately not an automatic, easy skill.”

However, it is essential to remember that even highly skilled professionals are human. Despite their training, mistakes can happen. Human beings are also influenced by mood and circumstances, which may affect their performance or approach to their tasks.

Adding to that, the editor further wrote:
“You can’t always get extractions covered by insurance, so I get why people tend to go to aestheticians, but some of them are definitely not trained,”

Considering these insights, the answer to the question “Is facial extraction really necessary?” is both yes and no.
Quoting from another online article,
“Very often, our pores get severely clogged after exposure to the pollution in the
air and after improper cleansing in our day-to-day lives. When dirt, grease and oil gather in open pores, coupled with the dried skin cells on the surface of our faces,

things will start to go south for our skin. Worst thing: it gets really ugly, really fast.” Hence, extraction is necessary to remove the impurities caused by pollution.

However, the answer is also no. Highlighting from the previous quote, we get clogged pores after “improper cleansing in our day-to-day lives”. This implies that if we cleanse our faces correctly on a daily basis, we can avoid regular extractions. Yes, if we cleanse our faces properly every day, we can remove the accumulated dirt, grease, and oil from our pores and potentially avoid the need for regular extractions.

This leads to the crucial question: Are you cleansing your face correctly on a daily basis?

In conclusion, while facial extraction is necessary to clear impurities caused by pollution, the need for extractions can be minimized through proper daily cleansing. By ensuring that we cleanse our faces correctly and consistently, we can remove impurities and potentially reduce the frequency of extractions.
